Launch of eco-friendly transportation initiatives

In accordance with its ecoMOBILITY program, the Canadian government will finance 14 projects in as many municipalities across the country in order to increase its contribution to eco-friendly transportation. The funds, close to three million dollars, will be invested in projects that better meet the needs and living conditions of the municipalities.

Applause greeted the president and head of management of vehicle sales for Mitsubishi Canada, Mr. Koji Soga, and the vice-president of sales, marketing and business planning, Mr. Tomoki Yanagawa. Nissan Canada yesterday announced its intentions to enter the Commercial Vehicle (CV) market through a significant investment in the North America. The Japanese-based automaker will deal in commercial vehicles globally, though they've announced that they will introduce three machines to the Canadian market in three years, launching the first model in 2010.

It's Toyota's first new Canadian plant investment in nearly 20 years. The automaker's new Woodstock plant, located in Woodstock Ontario, officially opened Thursday, December 4th. The plant will produce, among other models, the new Toyota Rav4. The updated bestseller was introduced earlier this year with several engine and styling upgrades, as well as reduced fuel consumption and increased safety.

Volvo will demonstrate City Safety in Montreal on XC60

Volvo is a leader in automotive safety, an they'll be demonstrating their latest "City Safety" technology in a tour of the new XC60 called "From Sweden with Lov". "City Safety" is a new technology which uses a low-speed autonomous braking system to protect distracted drivers and those around them. Using a special laser sensor, the technology is intended to reduce the low-speed collisions common in urban situations or when the driver is distracted and doesn't react to an imminent impact.

However, from what I've seen on a recent tour of the company's Oakville Assembly Plant, green is becoming the prominent color nowadays. Yes, Ford is ramping up its Eco-friendly Fumes-to-Fuel program and will soon be turning emissions into "green energy".
